As an internationally recognized jazz legend, vocalist Sheila Jordan has been a bandleader and accompanist with some of the greatest jazz musicians of the 20th century. She will be accompanied by Gerry Shatford on piano and John Geggie on-bass.

The Sunday Trio are Johnathan Stewart - tenor saxophone, Mike Perlin - bass and Rich Bannard - drums

The trio play every Tuesday night at Gusto's.

Kevin Dean arrived in Montreal in 1984 and has been large influence on the jazz scene there as an Associate Professor of Music [Jazz Studies] at McGill University, co-founder of the Jazz Association of Montreal and a musician - he's been making the rounds of all the city's jazz outlets where his trumpet [and more recently Hammond B3 organ] have given great pleasure to listeners of all ages. Concerts with Jimmy Heath and Benny Golson have been high points of his stay there. He's also been a faculty member at the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops and has recorded his music on a number of sessions throughout the world. Dean has worked with many excellent musicians since his arrival and introduced people like Mike Murley to Montreal audiences.

This session brings together the tri-generational musical talents of pianist Gene DiNovi, bassist Neil Swainson and guitarist Andrew Scott. With more than a century of combined musical experience, "Generations" entertains audiences with their creative performances of original compositions and gems from the great American songbook.



Richard Whiteman Trio

Richard has a cheerful and swinging style and he is inspired by the fine support of bassist Brandi Disterheft and drummer Sly Juhas.

John Oswald, Toronto's iconoclastic creator infamous for his "Plunderphonic" compositions new works made by plundering the recorded history of popular music is visiting Kingston this month to interact with a group of local musicians in "spontaneous compositions." The concert, on Friday May 26, will inaugurate Kingston new performance space Upper 202, tucked away in a convenient downtown location on Sydenham Street between Princess and Queen. Doors open at 8:30pm.

Oswald plays saxophone and has performed with reknowned musicians such as Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra. He received the Governor-General's Award in 2005 for his innovations in artmaking. His Kingston performance will include stellar local artists Rich Bannard on drums and Mike Perlin on bass. In addition, Oswald will select several other musicians from a jam session/audition to be held at Upper202 on May 25th, 1 - 3pm. Musicians who wish to join in should contact 549-1887.

Local contemporary art gallery Modern Fuel is presenting the event, with assistance from Keystone Property Management Inc..
